CC-4251G-90 — questions
What is CC-4251G-90?
CC-4251G-90 is the Channeltech CAT6 Flat 2 Pair lift cable: two multi-strand twisted pairs in a soft-grade FRLS PVC flat jacket. It is made for lift intercoms, emergency telephones and alarm signalling in the shaft.
Can I run an IP camera on the 2-pair cable?
No. An IP camera needs four pairs for data plus PoE (two pairs minimum for 100BASE-TX, and PoE over the spare pairs or the data pairs). Use CC-8251G-90 for cameras and keep the 2-pair cable for the intercom.
Why is it called CAT6 if it is only two pairs?
The pairs are built to CAT6 twist and conductor practice, which keeps voice clean and rejects noise from the lift drive. The name tells the lift company what construction to expect; it is not a four-pair data cable.
Can I run the intercom and the camera in one cable?
Yes, if you use the 4-pair cable and dedicate one pair to the intercom — but most lift companies prefer the intercom on its own cable so a camera fault never takes out the emergency phone. That is what the 2-pair cable is for.
